Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Knowledge of all components of Relational Databases – tables, indexes, primary and foreign keys, constraints, relationships etc.
  • Amending and creating database objects and showing the initial instruction or request and how it was achieved
  • Amending and creating front-end objects, e.g. forms and reports, and showing the initial instruction or request and how it was achieve
  • System and program test data production
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills
  • Error diagnostics and debugging from the initial issue through to the solution
  • Database Security - specifying who is allowed to perform the 4 basic operations of Insert, Update, Delete and Select against which tables. Understanding roles.
  • Increasing knowledge of the applications supported and the business needs – documented evidence
Qualifications & Training: 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and maths)  
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy, literacy and accuracy across a range of activities
  • Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate complex information.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the system development process including requirements analysis, design of applications, development and testing, go-live and on-going support.
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts like tables, indexes, constraints, procedures, and functions.
  • An understanding of the importance of security at all levels.
The principles and application of at least one language and GUI.
